Minutes of the General Meeting

2 July 1960

 

 

1. The meeting was called to order by the President, Joe Madrano, at 1540 hours, 2 July 1960. The following clubs were represented:

 

Nordsee Hoedowners

Promen-8-ers

Rhein/Main Ruffles and Shuffles

Kuntry Kuzins

Boots and Ruffles

Hahn Hicks and Chicks

Heidelberg Hoedowners

Mannheim Mixers

Darmstompers

Paris Squares

Frankfurt Merry-Mixers

Hanau Hayseeds

 

2. The minutes of the general meeting held in Ramstein on 18 March 1960 were read and approved.

 

3. The Treasurer's report was read and approved.

 

4. OLD BUSINESS:

a. The new president explained to the members present the circumstances of his elevation to the presidency of the association and wished the retiring president, Wes Keyson, good luck in his new role of a civilian.

 

b. The question of the LAMC Stars eligibility was brought up. It was not known whether or not the club had amended its constitution as was required at the previous meeting. This will be referred to the Secretary who is not present at the meeting.

 

5. NEW BUSINESS:

a. Two newly formed clubs requested membership in the association. The Bremerhaven Boots and Bustles and the Zweibruecken Swinging Zweis were accepted without discussion by a unanimous vote.

 

b. A brief discussion of plans presently underway for the Round Up was presented.

 

c. The president asked for volunteers for the Winter Jamboree with no one interested at this time.

 

d. The president reminded all members that elections for new officers would be held in September and that a new host club would be needed. He requested all clubs to consider the matter and present their ideas at the next general meeting.

 

e. The president requested approval to spend necessary funds for the forthcoming Round Up. A motion was made to authorize the spending of necessary funds not to exceed current cash balance. Motion carried by unanimous vote.

 

f. Discussion followed pertaining to the need for more news letters to each of the clubs and also a request to use the Deutsche Post rather than an APO.

 

6. The president thanked the Darmstompers for hosting the Jamboree and urged everyone to come to Frankfurt in September.

 

7. The meeting adjourned at 1625 hours.
