Minutes of the European Association of American Square Dance Clubs
Hotel Continental, Paris 12 November 1960
Convened: 1530
Presiding: Ralph Gero, Calico Squares
No officers of the EAASDC were present.
Bill Underdown of the Paris Squares acted as Secretary.
The Chairman stated that the meeting was informal and any decisions would have to be recommendations. No minutes or financial statement from the last meeting were available.
Old Business
Jim Schoen of the Paris Squares reopened the question of children dancing with adult dancers. He stated that at the Ramstein meeting it was agreed that children could dance at the Jamborees provided that they remained in their own squares. Sherry Sheridan is said to have agreed. The question raised was how to enforce this ruling? It was suggested that the Leaders of member clubs be asked to deal with the matter and in particular the club leader in question. The Master of Ceremonies could announce that children were to dance in their own squares, it was suggested. It is embarrassing for the adults and for the children also. The Chairman agreed to speak to the Master of Ceremonies. Mixer-type dances were to be settled by the children forming their own circle.
New Business
The Heidelberg Hoedowners requested by letter to host the Spring Jamboree in Heidelberg. It was recommended that the iinvitation be accepted. No dissenting votes were cast. The date was to be fixed at a later date.
Tex Hencerling announced the Squarepean Holiday was to be held in Berchtesgaden in 1961 during the last week of July. Al Brundage was coming from the US to call with Tex and Al Spencer. An increase in entrance fees was to be expected. Numbers to be admitted to the Ballroom were not yet known.
The meeting was adjourned at 1545.
