MINUTES EAASDC MEMBERSHIP MEETING May 7th, 1971 Mannheim, Germany
The meeting was called to order by the President Marv Leibowitz at 1230 hours.
Roll call was made with a total of 24 clubs present of an enrollment of 48.
The minutes of the last meeting were approved as written.
The treasurer's report was given with a balance as of May 7, 1971 of $ 967.85. Approved by the membership as given.
The President thanked the Kuntry Kuzins of Wiesbaden for a job well done for hosting the Student Jamboree which was enjoyed by all. Old Business: Summer Jamboree Curtis Jordan of the Gateway Twirlers reported that all plans have been made for the Summer Jamboree to be held the 2, 3 and 4th of July. Details have been mailed to clubs with advertising in the chatterbox. Fall Round Up A report on the Fall Round Up was given by the President. The Stuttgart Strutters hosting the Round Up held in Darmstadt at the Sporthalle being held the 3, 4, 5 and 6th of September. Stateside callers will be providing with Ken Reed calling on Friday and Ray Smith of Dallas, Texas calling on Saturday. Flyers are available now with full details to be given at the Summer Jamboree. Election of the Association President The President read his proposed amendments to the Association constitution: Discussion from the floor was open at this time with ideas and questions from the different clubs present. Each idea was given consideration. Round Up The President stated his view on clubs hosting then Round Up. First that the Round Up must be held in the Frankfurt area since we have many tours from the States and with stateside callers who provide the callers for the Round Up without charge to the association.

Voting on the proposed amendments to the constitution was as follows: Method of electing the President: A majority vote was carried by the general membership that the President be elected by majority vote at the annual Round Up. The nominees to be selected by a nominating committee at the spring jamboree with nominations taken from the floor at the summer Jamboree. Method of electing Vice President and treasurer with President selecting the Secretary The general membership voted to leave the selection of the vice President and treasurer and secretary to the discretion of the President but to present the names of the individuals he intends to appoint as the other officer within 30 days after the Summer Jamboree along wit resume of their backgrounds. Selection of Round Up A majority vote was taken by the membership that the association will sponsor the Annual Round Up with member clubs giving assistance when requested.
The President announced that he will announce the names of the nominating committee at the dance to be held this evening May 7th, 1971. New Business: The President announced that EAASDC Square Dance Information Kits will be passed out immediately after the meeting. All information in this Kits should be very helpful to each club and EAASDC hopes that your clubs will find these very helpful in planning special dances, Jamborees and planning new square dance classes. Report of Joint EAASDC-ECTA Meeting The President stated that he wanted to continue the Grand March formations at all special dances if possible. This gives the dancers a chance to meet Both ASSOCIATION Boards and he feels that this can be done without delaying the dance. Please if Grand March is held try to recognize each of your board members present. Programming of Jamborees ECTA made a request of EAASDC to b able to program the Jamborees along with the assistance of the hosting club caller. Discussion from the floor was held and many item were made clear to the membership which many members were not aware of. Wayne Dryer made a motion that the Association charge ECTA with the responsibility of programming the four ECTA-EAASDC sponsored dances within the time frame as laid down by the hosting club or council for the Fall Round Up. Seconded by Rainer Scheiblich. A majority vote was carried by the general membership. Winter Jamboree bids No bids Permanent badge for Round Up Discussion was held from the floor as to whether the membership would like a permanent badge for the Round Up with a hanger type bar for each succeeding year. It was felt that by the membership that they would prefer a different badge each year. Request for entrance into the Association Crossing Swords of Solingen presented their constitution and request to join the Association as associated member. The club dances on Tuesday nights at 1930 hours. Glenn Burnett made the motion they be accepted into the Association. It was seconded and carried by the general membership. Welcome to the crossing swords. Friendship badge to be awarded to Dean & Al Sturgill, Wheelers & Dealers, Don Ruyle, Heidelberg Hoedowners, Ray Anthony, Heidelberg Hoedowners, Gladys Steil, Gay Squares, Marion Junk, Heidelberg Hoedowners, Alvie & Eva Baucom, Heidelberg Hoedowners, Bill & Diane Hunold, Wheelers & Dealers, Ray & Doris Gustin, Kuntry Kuzins. Congratulations to each of these dancers on a job well done. New business from the floor Wayne Dryer announced that they still had a few applications for the Overseas Dancers reunion to be held in Colorado, if anyone was interested. Gladys Steil wanted to know it at all possible could there be some sort of a family plan for dancers with large families to be charged a nominal feel at the large dances and Jamborees. The President felt that this was a good idea and asked all member clubs to take this into consideration when holding a special dance. It was suggested that a copy of the EAASDC history be given to all new dancers in Europe thus giving them some idea as to what the Association can and does do for the members. Discussion was held from the floor about Round Dances at Jamborees. The President announced that we should not vote on this at this time since from now on the programs will be programmed by ECTA and they will take care of this portion of the dance. Doc Karls again thanked the dancers for their participation during the time that he and Agnes owned and operated the Kuntry Store.
