Minutes of General Membership Meeting 1 September 1973
The general membership meeting of the European Association of American Square Dance Clubs (EAASDC) were called to order by the Association President Vern Hoover, on 1 September 1973 at 10:15 at the Sport Center in Heddesheim. There were 38 clubs present at roll call. The minutes of the last meeting were approved. The treasurers report was given and approved. A copy is attached to these minutes.
OLD BUSINESS
Proposed amendment to Article III of the constitution, Vern Hoover reported on his discussion with CPT David N Naugel, USAREUR JAG, concerning change to admit host nation clubs as full member clubs. USAREUR ratification of non-appropriated fund activities is issued so that these activities may utilize/accept free U.S. military aid, i.e., use of U.S. facilities for dance/meeting halls; access to military installations; purchase of items from commissary/PX, etc. The benefits derived from this approval are governed by US-FRG (or other host nation) SOFA and can only be granted when U.S. military personnel are the major benefactors. Permitting other clubs to hold equal status with U.S. clubs jeopardizes the status quo which we currently enjoy within our square dance activities. Therefore, the proposed amendment to the constitution is withdrawn.
Proposed change to Article VII, Section I of the constitution that "Suspended clubs or associated members may be reinstated upon payment of current dues and 50% of past dues". The proposed amendment was voted upon and approved.
NEW BUSINESS
RAINBOW STROLLERS of Oss, Netherland, BLACKBIRD BARCER MERL of Meckenheim, Germany, ROUND DANCE CLUB HEIDELBERG and UP-TO-THE-CENTER of London, England were voted in as associated members of EAASDC.
TIC-TAC-TOERS of Ansbach, Germany were also voted in as full members of EAASDC.
Vern Hoover explained the reason for $1.50 for entrance fee was necessary to offset the declining value to the US Dollar as most costs of the Round Up were in DM.
Copyright was also given to Boots & Ruffles for their Halloween Dance.
UP-TO-THE-CENTER bid for the Summer Jamboree 1975 was voted upon and accepted.
Club banners stolen more than 30 days prior to a Jamboree and not reclaimed by losing club will be returned at next Jamboree.
It was suggested and concurred in by all clubs present that clubs would refrain for the hands in the center type "Thank You" and instead use a personnel hand shake type "Thank You".
The votes were counted and Dick Paulder is the new President. His board is: Hank Meyer Vice President Anny Klingenschmidt Secretary Vern Hoover Treasurer Brent Strickland Publicity Director
Vern Hoover made his departing remarks to the Association. He thanked everyone for their support and assistance during the past year. He also remarked on how well the Association has progressed in drawing closer to ECTA. He hopes this fine relationship will continue in the future.
