The general membership meeting of the European Association of American Square Dance Clubs (EAASDC) was called to order by the Association President Dick Paulder, on 6 July 1974 at 10:40 in Augsburg, Germany. There were representatives present from 37 clubs at roll call. Minutes of the last meeting were approved as written. The Treasurer's report was given and approved. A copy is attached for you information.
OLD BUSINESS
Richard Perry, the Association Treasurer read the proposed change to Article III, which was discussed at the Spring Jamboree, that active club dues be raided to $15.00; associate clubs to $10.00. The motion was approved.
The bid for Spring Jamboree "75", hosted by the Tulip Twirlers was voted upon and was approved, also the bid for the Fall Round Up "75", hosted by Munich Dip-Divers was voted upon and was approved.
Peter Schensick presented a status report on the Fall Round Up in Berlin, and mentioned that clubs should use Square Dance for group reservations on the duty train to Berlin. Square dancers have priority for bookings. Also available is a tourist ticket of 9.-DM, for transportation on the Berlin subways and buses for the period of 4 days.
At 11:10 a five minute smoking break was taken for the benefit of all the smokers.
NEW BUSINESS
Two new youth clubs were voted into the Association: Teen Twirlers from Bitburg (associate) and Star Twirlers from Weierhof/Sembach (associate).
Dick Paulder discussed the Kuntry Store that has not appeared at several dances. He tried to get hold of Frenchie by letter but it was returned addressee unknown and by using the phone number that was listed in the Chatterbox and failed to reach him. Frenchie lived up to the Charter that was signed by himself ECTA and this Association. Kurt and Doris Jordan have made a bid to take over the Kuntry Store and attend as many dances as possible. Square dance accessories are needed by the majority of the square dancers and with out the Kuntry Store the only way to get hold of them is through a mail order catalogue. Anyone else interested in the Kuntry Store should contact Dick Paulder. Also at this time Bob Rausch is selling the Record Shop and if by the Fall Round Up there is no buyer the Record Shop will have to close. Anyone interested should contact Bob Rausch.
Hank Meyer, Vice President led a discussion on the level of dancing in Europe. The discussion culminated in a resolution being made by the membership present at the meeting "That the clubs collectively attempt to police themselves to raise the level of dancing by (a.) to be toughly proficient in the basic 75 and (b.) to request that the caller/teacher, increase the level of the club by planning workshops on normal club nights.
Dick Paulder again brought up the discussion that dances should be scheduled/confirmed at least 6 to 12 months in advance. A Square Dance Calendar was given to the clubs present to take back to the club for discussion and any discussion points should be brought up at the Fall Round-Up in Berlin.
Brent Strickland, Publicity Director brought up the fact that square dance can be published through the Chatterbox, Stars and Stripes and any other military paper, including AFN/AFTV. Square Dance Week this year will be from 16. September-22 September.
