MINUTES OF THE EAASDC GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
The General Membership Meeting of the European Association of American Square Dance Clubs (EAASDC) was called to order by the President, Ted & Sonja Anthony, at 1018, 4 Sep 1976 at the Sportgemeinde, Kaiserslautern. There were 37 clubs represented.
Motion was made, seconded and carried to dispense with reading of the minutes of the last meeting as they had been provided to all clubs by mail.
The Treasurers Report was read and approved.
OLD BUSINESS
A report on the Winter Jamboree was given by a representative of the Holland Windmillers.
A report on the Spring Jamboree was given by a representative of the Stintfang.
Ted announced that Steve Nutbrown will talk to Rolf Schuster about the Chatterbox and its' relationship to EAASDC.
The Port Promenaders Columbus Dance conflicts with the Kitzingen Klodhoppers 6th Anniversary Dance. This is due to an error by Ted and he will negotiate with the Port Promenaders.
Ted requested that clubs mail copies of flyers to clubs in Spain and Italy as they do not receive their Chatterbox on a regular basis.
Rolf Schuster recommended that Bundespost addresses as well as military addresses be provided the Chatterbox.
Calendar changes and additions - The Wuerzburg Whirlers 10th Anniversary Dance was added. The membership voted to give the Frankfurt Beaux and Belles a charter for a Glockenspiel Dance.
Ted reminded the membership that dates for Special Dances must be confirmed no later than 6 months in advance. As a result several dates on the calendar were reconfirmed.
The Shape Shuffling Squares entered a bid for the Summer Jamboree 1977 and this bid was accepted by the membership.
Ted stated that if at all possible Jamborees and Round Ups should not be held on the first weekend of the month. Most of the German dancers must work until 1800 on the first Saturday of the month and this makes it difficult for them to reach a dance on time.
NEW BUSINESS
Four new clubs were granted membership in the Association. The Minuets RDC of Rhein Main AB, The Offenburg Squares," The Toe-Tappers of Germersheim and the Wattwuermes (Sandworms). The Sandworms dance once a year on an island in the Rhein River.
Proposed changes to the Constitution which were presented at the Summer Jamboree were passed by the membership.
The Country Store is being closed down due to lack of sufficient sales. Record Shop may also close due to the questionable legality of AP0 mail uses.
Ted Informed the membership that should any questions or problems arise between any club and the German Musicians Union (GEMA) they should be immediately forwarded to the President of EAASDC and NO PAYMENT is to be made directly to GEMA by any club.
Ted announced the new ECTA Board.
Steve Nut brown was elected as President of the Association by acclamation and introduced the members of his Board.
Motion was made, seconded and carried for adjournment at 1230.
