Minutes of the General Membership meeting

of the European Association

of American Square Dance Clubs

Wiesbaden

 

The General Membership Meeting of the European Association of American Square Dance Clubs (EAASDC) was called to order by the President, Ted and Sonja Anthony at 1000 on 3 July 1976. There were 27 Clubs represented.

 

Motion was made, seconded and carried to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last meeting.

 

The Financial Statement was read and approved.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

A report on the progress made thus far for the Fall Round Up was given by a member of the Buttons and Bows.

 

Wayne Paige, Nominating Committee chairman, gave his report and the results of the committees efforts to nominate candidates for EAASDC President. Steve Nutbrown was nominated by the committee and no further nominations were made from the floor. Motions was made, seconded and carried to close the nominations. Steve has been elected by acclamation. Ted welcomed Steve and his selected board members to office and wished them well in the coming year.

 

The Holland Windmillers entered a bid for the 1976 Winter Jamboree and were accepted by the membership. The Jamboree will be held on 10-12 December 1976.

 

The Stintfang entered a bid for the 1977 Spring Jamboree and were accepted by the membership. The Jamboree will be held on 2-4 April 1977.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Two new clubs were accepted into the Association. The Pattonville Promenaders, a children club from Stuttgart and the Kaetchen Swingers from Heilbronn.

 

The Rhine River Cruise scheduled for 7 August 1976 was cancelled due to the higher than expected cost of renting the boat.

 

The General Membership agreed to grant Honorary life time membership to several past members. See attached list of names.

 

Ted presented a total of 12 proposed changes to the constitution. These proposals be voted on at the next General Membership meeting. See attached list.

 

A total of 7 proposed amendments to the by-laws were voted on and accepted by the membership.

 

Ted restated the standards of dress for Square Dancing. Long sleeves for the men and NO backless dresses for women.

 

Clubs were encouraged to return the Club Information Sheets to the Secretary as soon as possible after they receive them.

 

Ted announced that Jim Anderson, EAASDC Liaison to ECTA had suffered a heart attack but was definitely improving and should be released from Landstuhl Hospital soon.
