Minutes of General Membership Meeting Round Up, 3 September 1977, Stuttgart
The general membership meeting of the European Association of American Square Dance Clubs (EAASDC) was called to order by the Association President Steve Nutbrown, on 3 September 1977 in Stuttgart. There were representatives present from 52 clubs at roll call. Minutes of the last meeting were approved as written. The Treasurer's report was given and approved.
OLD BUSINESS WINTER JAMBOREE A representative of the Buttons & Bows gave a report of the Winter Jamboree. It will be held in Kaiserslautern on the 12., 13. and 14 of January in the same hall where the Round Up last year was hosted. Information packages for every club were given out at the Round Up. Private quarters are available, please sign up for them ahead of time.
SPRING JAMBOREE Siegfried Sassmann reported on the Spring Jamboree, hosted by the Soest Belles & Beaux on the 7., 8. and 9. of April 1978. The dance will be held in the same hall as their annual Tremonia Dance, plus two more halls in the same building. Because the hall costs 2500 DM, the entrance fee is 13.50 DM per person, preregistration is 11 DM. Sixty dancers can be sleeping inside the hall for free, if they bring their own airmats. Behind the dancing hall there is space available for about 50 campers and tents, also without any charge.
NEW BUSINESS CALENDAR Two Calendar changes were made: the 5th May Pole Dance will be on the 6. and 7. of May 1978 and the 10th Hummel Dance and also 15th Anniversary of the Stintfang Square Dancers will be hosted on the 13., 14. and 15. of May.
The Student Jamboree will be held in Wallau on the 3rd of December.
JAMBOREE BIDS The Heidelberg Hoedowners bid for the Summer Jamboree 1978, and the bid was accepted. It will be held on the 8., 9. and 10. of July in the Heidelberg Officer's Club.
NEW CLUBS There was one new club voted into the Association: the Midnight Sundowners of Iceland. Congratulations!
OPEN DISCUSSION Rolf Schuster, editor of the Chatterbox, said that there was a new club formed in Italy and asked why EAASDC didn't try to get this club into our Association. Steve replied that we weren't aware of it and Dick Persich said all Italian clubs which joined the Italian Association were also members of EAASDC. They only formed their own Association because they are so far away from us.
Rolf is asking for having both, military and also home addresses and telephone numbers, listed in the club listing.
INTRODUCTION OF CANDIDATES Before Steve introduced the candidates for EAASDC President, he said that both of them were very qualified, however, one had to loose. But fortunately EAASDC will always be the winner.
Mary Frisk, dancing with the Heidelberg Hoedowners, is a very active dancer, travelling to almost every dance. She talked about herself and her ideas and introduced her board.
Tom Kalal, the second candidate, started dancing in Stuttgart 6 years ago and is now dancing with the Bavarian Stompers in Augsburg. He held different offices in his clubs and helped the Tamburins when they started their club.
On the election very club representative voted and the winner and new President of EAASDC is Tom and Renate Kalal. Congratulations! Tom thanked everybody for their confidence.
Fred and Millie Talley, dancing in Ansbach, spent a long time working on an "EAASDC History book". They donated this great book that includes pictures, reports and badges of the first Jamborees and Round Ups, to EAASDC. Many thanks!
Steve thanked the three clubs, the Tamburins, Merry Mixers and Stuttgart Strutters for the wonderfully organized Round Up.
BOARD COMMENTS Johnny Kopecky said it had been a good year under a good leader and a very good membership. Ted Anthony said that things are working out real well. He has a wish for the future: EAASDC will be 25 years old in 1979 and the first Round Up was hosted by the Beaux & Belles, Frankfurt. Therefore he would like to have the 25th Round Up held in Frankfurt as well. Dick Persich summarized everything in one sentence: it had a been a pleasure to work with Steve and the membership. Last but certainly not least it was Steve's turn to say goodbye to three very active "board years". He first thanked his board, especially Dick Persich who had already rotated to the States and came back particularly for the Round Up; and then he thanked cordially all the dancers in Europe, who gave him and his wife such a pleasant time in Germany. Protokoll der Vollversammlung vom 3. September 1977, Round-Up, Stuttgart
Die Vollversammlung der European Association of American Square Dance Clubs (EAASDC) wurde am 3. September 1977 vom Association Präsidenten Steve Nutbrown in Stuttgart eröffnet. Es waren Repräsentanten von 52 Clubs anwesend. Das Protokoll der letzten Versammlung sowie der Kassenbericht wurden ohne Änderung angenommen.
ALTE ANGELEGENHEITEN WINTER JAMBOREE Ein Repräsentant der Buttons & Bows berichtete über die Winter Jamboree, die am 12., 13. und 14. Januar 1978 in derselben Halle veranstaltet wird, in der das Round-Up 1976 stattfand. Übernachtung in Privatquartieren wird angeboten, die Buttons & Bows bitten um rechtzeitige Anmeldung.
SPRING JAMBOREE Siegfried Sassmann berichtete über die Spring Jamboree, die von den Soest Belles & Beaux am 7., 8. und 9. April in Dortmund ausgerichtet wird, in derselben Halle, in der der alljährliche Tremonia Dance veranstaltet wird. Zusätzlich stehen noch zwei weitere Hallen zur Verfügung. Da die Räumlichkeiten 2500 DM kosten, betragt der Eintrittspreis 13,50 DM, Voranmeldung 11 DM. Etwa 60 Tänzer können kostenlos auf mitgebrachten Luftmatratzen übernachten; hinter der Halle ist Platz für 50 Wohnwagen und Zelte (ebenfalls kostenlos).
NEUE ANGELEGENHEITEN CALENDAR Es wurden zwei Calendar Änderungen vorgenommen: der 5. May Pole Dance findet am 6. und 7. Mai statt; der 10. Hummel Dance und gleichzeitig 15. Anniversary der Stintfang Square Dancers am 13,14. und 15. Mai '78.

OPEN DISCUSSION Rolf Schuster, Herausgeber der Chatterbox, sagte, dass in Italien ein neuer Club gegründet worden und der italienischen Association beigetreten sei. Er wollte nun wissen, warum EAASDC nicht versuchte, den Club für sich zu gewinnen. Steve antwortete, dass EAASDC nicht darüber Bescheid wusste, und Dick Persich meinte, alle Mitglieder der italienischen Vereinigung gehörten auch der EAASDC an. Die italienische Association wurde nur gegründet, weil Italien so weit von unserem Square Dance Geschehen entfernt liegt.
Außerdem bat Rolf darum, dass die Adressen und Telefonnummern der Clubliste möglichst sowohl die Militär- als auch die Privatadressen bzw. -telefonnummern enthalten sollen.
KAMDIDATENVORSTELLUNG Bevor Steve die Kandidaten zur Wahl des EAASDC Präsidenten vorstellte, sagte er, beide Kandidaten seien sehr qualifiziert, einer müsse jedoch verlieren. In jedem Falle aber sei unsere Association der Gewinner.
Zuerst sprach Mary Frisk, Mitglied der Heidelberg Hoedowners und sehr aktive Tänzerin, über ihre Person und ihre Vorstellungen und stellte anschließend ihr Board vor.
Tom Kalal, Mitglied der Bavarian Stompers in Augsburg, begann vor 6 Jahren in Stuttgart zu tanzen, war verschiedentlich in Clubboards tätig und stand den Tamburins bei ihrem Start bei. Er sprach über seine Ziele und stellte sein Board vor.
Bei der Stimmauszählung entfielen mehr Stimmen auf Tom, und somit sind Tom und Renate Kalal neuer Präsident der EAASDC. Herzlichen Glückwunsch! Tom dankte den Wählern für das ihm erwiesene Vertrauen.
Fred und Millie Talley haben in monatelanger Arbeit ein "EAASDC-Geschichtsbuch" zusammengestellt, das sie beim Round Up unserer Vereinigung schenkten. Es ist ein großartiges Buch mit vielen Bildern und Berichten und beinhaltet außerdem Badges der ersten Jamborees und 41 Round Up's. Vielen Dank!
Steve dankte den drei veranstaltenden Clubs, den Tamburins, Merry Mixers und Stuttgart Strutters, für das gelungene Round Up.
BOARD - KOMMENTARE Johnny Kopecky sagte, er könne auf ein gutes Jahr unter sehr guter Führung und einer ausgezeichneten Mitgliedschaft zurückblicken. Ted Anthony meinte, dass es sehr gut um unsere Association stünde, die nun schon 25 Jahre besteht. Weil das erste Round Up in Frankfurt von den Beaux & Belles ausgerichtet worden war, sei es sein Wunsch, dass das 25. Round-Up ebenfalls dort stattfände. Dick Persich fasste alles in einem Satz zusammen: es sei ihm eine Freude gewesen, mit Steve und dieser Mitgliedschaft zu arbeiten. Last not least war für Steve der Augenblick gekommen, Abschied von drei sehr aktiven "Board-Jahren" zu nehmen. Er bedankte sich erst bei seinem Board, insbesondere bei Dick Persich, der schon in die Staaten zurückgekehrt war und eigens wegen des Round Up's noch einmal wieder kam; und anschließend dankte er ganz herzlich allen Tänzern Europas, die ihm eine solch schöne Zeit in Deutschland ermöglichten.
