Mixed Programs? / Gemischtes Programm?

In the minutes of the last ECTA Square Dance Council, we found the following passage. We too watch the mentioned developments with concern and we consider the referred proposal appropriate. However, the programme planning is job of the club Board in most cases and the caller is - if ever - in the role of a consultant. Therefore, with permission of the ECTA Board, we print the text to be known to all clubs and we hope for a lively discussion too.

Please think about, planning the programme for your next Special dance!

Specials with Mixed programs, e.g. 2 MS / 1 Plus

A lively discussion developed on this subject. The general opinion was that it is a negative development for Square Dance in Europe.

It generally requires a portion of the dancers to pay for more than they can dance.

It gives the dancers, especially newer dancers, the impression that they need to learn more as quickly as possible in order to fully participate in Square Dancing, although they may not be ready for it.

Some thought that there is a snowball effect between the clubs - fear to not do what others are doing.

A better approach is Plus in the afternoon and Mainstream in the evening with different prices.

Im Protokoll des letzten ECTA Square Dance Council fanden wir die folgende Passage. Auch wir betrachten die erwähnte Entwicklung mit Unbehagen und halten den erwähnten Vorschlag für eine gute Idee. In den meisten Fällen liegt allerdings die Programmgestaltung eines Specials beim Clubvorstand und der Caller hat, wenn überhaupt, nur eine beratende Funktion. Wir machen daher den Text mit Genehmigung des ECTA-Vorstands allen Clubs bekannt und hoffen auf eine lebhafte Diskussion.

Specials mit gemischtem Programm, z.B. 2 MS / 1 Plus

Über dieses Thema entstand eine lebhafte Diskussion. Die allgemeine Meinung war, dass dies eine negative Entwicklung für den Square Dance in Europa sei:

Es verlangt im allgemeinen von einem Teil der Tänzer, dass sie für mehr bezahlen, als sie tanzen können.

Es macht besonders auf die neueren Tänzer den Eindruck, dass sie so schnell wie möglich mehr lernen müssen, um voll am Square Dance teilnehmen zu können, obwohl sie vielleicht noch nicht bereit dafür sind.

Einige dachten, dass es einen Schneeballeffekt zwischen den Clubs gibt - die Angst nicht zu tun, was andere tun.

Eine besserer Weg ist es, mit unterschiedlichen Eintrittspreisen Plus am Nachmittag und Mainstream am Abend anzubieten.
