| In some areas, the singing call portion of the
tip will be danced with the square in the same position as the patter tip.
That is, Couple #1 remains Couple #1.
In other areas, perhaps for variety, the square is rotated (stirred) so that the heads are now sides and the sides are now heads. This is called "Stirring The Bucket" and can be accomplished in one of two ways. Some callers will end the final sequence of the patter tip with an "at home" ending which has stirred the square. Usually this is accompanied with some patter like "bow to the partners, and the corners all; you've stirred the bucket for the singing call". In areas which stir the bucket, and in which the caller ended the patter tip without stirring the bucket, the dancers do it themselves by circling left (or right, I don't remember) 1/4. A dancer from a non-stirring region will be slightly confused the first few times he dances in a stirring region as he gets used to the change in heads and sides "in the middle of the tip". |

In anderen Gegenden wird, vielleicht nur zur Abwechslung, der Square gedreht, so dass die Heads nun Sides und die Sides nun Heads sind. Das nennt man "Stirring the Bucket" und es kann auf zweierlei Art ausgeführt werden. Manche Caller beenden die abschließende Sequenz des Patter-Teils mit einem "at home"-Ende, das den Square in gedrehter Position stehen lässt, meist mit einem Spruch wie "bow to the partners, and the corners all; you've stirred the bucket for the singing call" ("Verbeugung zum Partner und allen Cornern, ihr habt den Square für den Singing-Call gedreht"). In Gegenden, wo die Square-Drehung üblich ist, der Caller den Patter-Tip aber ohne Drehung beendet, machen es die Tänzer selbst, indem sie einen "Circle left ¼" (vielleicht war es auch "Circle right" - ich weiß es nicht mehr). Ein Tänzer aus einer "nicht-drehenden" Gegend wird etwas verwirrt sein, wenn er das erste Mal in einer "drehenden" Gegend tanzt und "mitten im Tip" plötzlich Heads und Sides vertauschen soll.
