Often in round (and square) dancing we see dancers/club members with the idea that leadership belongs only to the cuer or caller or the club board. Nothing could be further from the truth! While these people have a responsibility in leading part of the club, they, and the club, can only be a success if everyone helps and works. So, what can you as an individual, a club member, do to contribute to the leadership of our activity? Here are a few ideas. Someone usually has to set up the dancing room, more chairs, set up tables, etc.; and when the dance is over someone has to put it all back again. You could take this responsibility in your hands and even get others to help you. (If you also want to help the cuer or caller set up or take down the music equipment, please ask them first. This is very special equipment, and often the cuer or caller would prefer to pack it up themselves.) It is nice for the cuer or caller if there is something for them to drink during break time. They are often busy deciding what needs to be taught/cued/called next, answering questions, or just talking to others so that everyone feels welcome. If you would be in charge of having a drink ready of the cuer/caller, they would really appreciate it. Most cuers/callers feel it is part of their responsibility (and they also enjoy it) to talk to the other people attending an event. But you could also welcome (new) people; dance with someone who has come alone. This will be a great help in improving the general atmosphere of your club. Parties ... they are always a lot of fun. But you don't have to leave it up to the cuer or caller, or the club board to suggest a party - you can also suggest a party and a party theme. And a party theme doesn't have to be a holiday theme (like Christmas). You could also have a party centered around, for instance, a "food theme"- a soup evening - a 'breakfast' evening - the 'wurst' (worst) night. The seasons also make good party ideas: "Spring Fling", "Fall Colors" (a prize given to the most colorful outfit), "Spectacular Summer", "Summer in Winter", "White Winter". If you also discuss these ideas with your cuer or caller they can try and find some dances that will go along with your theme. I'm sure if you ask your club cuer or caller or board that they can even give you some more ideas on how you can help … and that is really a big part of leadership - helping others so that all can achieve the most together. Remember, we are a TEAM and Together Everyone Achieves More. |
Wir sehen beim Round (und Square) Dance oft Tänzer/Clubmitglieder, die der Meinung sind, dass "Führung" nur eine Sache des Cuers oder Callers oder des Vorstands sei. Nichts stimmt weniger als das! Obwohl diese Leute die Verantwortung für die Führung des Clubs haben, können sie und der Club nur dann erfolgreich sein, wenn alle helfen und arbeiten. Was könnt ihr als Einzelner, als Clubmitglied für die Führung in unserer Aktivität tun? Hier sind einige Ideen. Normalerweise hat jemand den Tanzraum vorzubereiten, Stühle und Tische herbeizuholen usw. und wenn der Tanzabend vorbei ist, alles wieder wegzuräumen. Ihr könnt die Verantwortung dafür übernehmen und auch andere veranlassen, euch zu helfen. (Wenn ihr auch dem Cuer oder Caller helfen wollt, die Musikanlage auf- oder abzubauen, fragt ihn/sie bitte zuerst. Es handelt sich um besondere Geräte und Cuer oder Caller wollen sie vielleicht lieber selbst verpacken.) Es ist auch angenehm für Cuer oder Caller, wenn in den Pausen ein Getränk für sie bereit steht. Sie sind oft damit beschäftigt zu entscheiden, was als nächstes gelehrt/gecuet/gecallt werden muss oder sprechen grade mit jemandem, damit sich alle willkommen fühlen. Wenn ihr dafür sorgt, dass für Cuer oder Caller ein Getränk bereitsteht, weiß er/sie das sicher zu schätzen. Die meisten Cuer und Caller halten es für einen Teil ihrer Verantwortung (und machen es gerne), mit den Leuten, die eine Veranstaltung besuchen, zu reden. Aber auch ihr könntet (neue) Tänzer begrüßen; tanzt mit denen, die allein gekommen sind. Das ist eine tolle Hilfe die allgemeine Stimmung in eurem Club zu verbessern. Besondere Abende ... sie machen immer eine Menge Spaß. Ihr müsst es aber nicht dem Cuer, Caller oder Vorstand überlassen, einen solchen Abend vorzuschlagen - auch ihr könnt das tun oder ein Motto dafür vorschlagen. So ein Motto braucht nicht ein Festtag zu sein (wie Weihnachten). Ihr könnt auch einen Abend veranstalten, dessen Motto sich z.B. um "Essen" dreht - ein "Suppen"abend - ein "Frühstücks"abend - der "Wurst"abend*) Die Jahreszeiten sind auch gute Ideengeber: "Frühlingstreiben", "Herbstfarben" (mit einem Preis für das farbenfroheste Kostüm), "Sommereindrücke", "Sommer im Winter", "Weißer Winter". Wenn ihr eure Ideen mit Cuer oder Caller diskutiert, kann er/sie vielleicht auch zum Motto passende Tänze heraussuchen. Ich bin sicher, wenn ihr euren Club-Cuer oder -Caller oder den Vorstand fragt, wird man euch noch mehr Vorschläge machen, wo ihr helfen könnt ... und das ist wirklich ein großer Teil "Führung" - anderen helfen, damit alle das Beste daraus machen können.
