EAASDC President's Letter

Hey friends,

Now we've got good news for you all.

Our donation action was a great success and about 2.500 € were collected. The EAASDC treasury added money to the total amount of $ 4.000.

Through contacts with dancers, square dance organisations and caller we received the pleasant information that, as far as we have knowledge of, no victims amongst square dancers through the terrible events from September 11th, 2001 were given.

Therefore we needed to look for other people that we wanted to help with the donated money.

Through the final talks with Lee Kopman, who lives and calls in the area of New York, we got in touch with a community which suffered a lot through this events.

In the community of Rockwell Centre 30 families with 35 children were affected. The age of the children extends from unborn to 14 year old.

We discussed this within the board and came to the conclusion to put the donated money to the disposal of the fund that was founded to support the affected children.

The amount will be transferred to our expenses, means EAASDC will cover all upcoming costs for the transfer.

We believe that you all will agree to this decision.

We would like to thank everyone again for their support by donating money, the individual people, the clubs or the organisations.

Wir haben wir gute Nachrichten für euch.

Unsere Spendenaktion war ein voller Erfolg. Rund 2.500 € sind zusammen gekommen. Aus der EAASDC Kasse haben wir die Summe auf $ 4.000 aufgestockt.

Durch Kontakte mit Tänzern, Square Dance Organisationen und Callern haben wir die erfreuliche Nachricht bekommen, dass es, nach dem jetzigen Wissensstand, keine Opfer unter Square Tänzern durch die grausigen Geschehnisse des 11. September 2001 gegeben hat.

Deshalb haben wir uns nach anderen Empfängern, denen wir mit dem gespendeten Geld helfen wollen, umgesehen.

Durch die letzten Gespräche mit Lee Kopman, der in der New Yorker Gegend lebt und callt, sind wir mit einer Gemeinde in Kontakt gekommen, die sehr unter den Ereignissen gelitten hat.

In der Gemeinde Rockwell Centre sind 30 Familien mit 35 Kindern betroffen. Das Alter der Kinder reicht von ungeboren bis 14 Jahre.

Im Board haben wir darüber gesprochen und sind zur Entscheidung gekommen das gespendete Geld einem Fond zur Unterstützung dieser betroffenen Kinder zur Verfügung zu stellen.

Der Betrag wird auf unsere Kosten übertragen, d.h. EAASDC wird alle anfallenden Kosten für den Transfer übernehmen.

Wir glauben, dass diese Entscheidung eure Zustimmung finden wird.

Wir möchten nochmals allen für ihre Unterstützung durch Spenden danken, den Einzelpersonen, den Clubs oder den Gemeinschaften.
