President's Letter

Hey friends,

 Throughout the years of work for you and support of our activity we've tried to keep the regulations to a minimum, educating the dancers in a Square Dance spirit and trying to keep up the fun in dancing that combines us.

For us all this will come to an end and we think that our successsors will provide you with the same or better service. The individuality amongst us starts to take an increasing expanse and some people tend to see their own benefit instead of looking for the benefit of the Square Dance community. A strong challenge for the new board.

But within the last two years the new board had enough time to have a look into the minor and major problems within Square Dancing.

We wish all the new board members good luck for this new task. We will naturally back them up in both word and deed if needed.

But we don't want to go out of office without thanking the other members of the board for their work for this long time. Without their contribution it would have been impossible to serve you and keep our activity alive and growing.

Some of the milestones we achieved together should be mentioned:

• The conversion of our association into a registered one according to national law.
• Continuous work with GEMA for the benefit of the clubs and the prevention of the almost occurring insolvency through the extreme rise of GeEMA fees.
• The good financial health of our association despite of all the financial problems.
• The growing number of clubs (from 170 to almost 600) and the raised number of dances and the solutions found so far (this leaves enough work for the new board).
• The fundamental improved quality of the Bulletin and continuous service with information by internet.

Without the other board members, your faith and your support it would have been impossible to do this constructive work.

We'd like to say THANK YOU to you and the other members of the board and hope that you will provide the new board with the same support and faith.

We are looking forward to what the future will hold for us with mixed feelings.

In den Jahren der Arbeit für Euch und der Unterstützung unserer Aktivität haben wir darauf geachtet, möglichst wenige Regeln festzuschreiben, versucht die Tänzer im Square Dance Geist auszubilden und die Freude, die uns alle verbindet, zu erhalten.

All dies wird nun für uns zu Ende kommen und wir hoffen, dass unsere Nachfolger Euch den gleichen oder einen besseren Service bieten werden. Die Individualität unter uns nimmt immer stärkeren Raum ein und manche Tänzer sehen lieber ihren eigenen Vorteil als die Vorteile der Square Dance Gemeinschaft. Eine große Herausforderung für den neuen Vorstand.

Aber das neue Board hatte in den zurückliegenden zwei Jahren genügend Zeit, Einsicht in die kleinen und großen Probleme des Square Dance zu nehmen.

Wir wünschen allen Vorstandsmitgliedern viel Glück für die neuen Aufgaben. Wir stehen natürlich auch weiterhin gerne mit Rat und Tat zur Verfügung.

Wir möchten aber nicht aus dem Amt scheiden, ohne den anderen Vorstandsmitgliedern für ihre Arbeit während dieser langen Zeit zu danken. Ohne deren Mitarbeit wäre es unmöglich gewesen, unsere Aktivität in Eurem Sinne am Leben zu erhalten und auszubauen.

Einige der Meilensteine, die wir gemeinsam erreicht haben, sollen erwähnt werden:

• Die Umwandlung unserer Organisation in einen eingetragenen Verein entsprechend nationalem Recht.
• Die kontinuierliche Arbeit mit GEMA zum Vorteil der Clubs und die Verhinderung der Beinahe-Zahlungsunfähigkeit bedingt durch einen extremen Anstieg der GEMA-Gebühren.
• Die gute finanzielle Situation unserer Organisation trotz zwischenzeitlicher Finanzprobleme.
• Die wachsende Anzahl der Clubs (von rund 170 auf fast 600) und der gestiegenen Anzahl der Tänze und die bisher dafür gefundenen Lösungen (dies lässt noch genug Arbeit für das neue Board).
• Die wesentlich verbesserte Qualität des Bulletins und eine kontinuierliche Versorgung mit Informationen per Internet.

Ohne die anderen Vorstandsmitglieder, Euer Vertrauen und Eure Unterstützung wäre diese konstruktive Arbeit nicht möglich gewesen.

 Wir möchten Euch und den anderen Vorstandsmitgliedern dafür DANKE sagen und hoffen, dass Ihr dem neuen Board ebenfalls Unterstützung und Vertrauen entgegenbringt

Dem was uns persönlich die Zukunft bringen wird schauen wir mit einem lachenden und einem weinenden Auge entgegen.
