Help wanted!

I was really surprised by the success of this small note on our homepage. A few hours later the first mails with confirmations and corrections arrived. Many thanks, but please understand that I'm not able to answer all of them. - But what is this all about?

On individual club homepages, route planners, or links to providers of route planners, are already provided. I would like to arrange such a service for all the dance locations of all clubs in our directory.

As part of their free offers "map24.de" has one that seems to fulfill our needs. It provides a display of the map of the dance location, and also the route planner to get there. Unfortunately this service isn't free of charge: some promotional banners come along too. A request for the conditions of an advertisement-free version is still ongoing.

Katharina and I have tried to correct and complete all address information concerning dance locations, to provide a correct data transfer to the page of map24. Through this, the dance locations of almost all clubs should be displayed.

Throughout the years some mistakes and inaccuracies have collected in our club database. Therefore I need your help, as I'm not able to control the correct display of more than 500 clubs myself. Unfortunately, for smaller villages not all of the roads are included, or the positions of house numbers are missing. In such cases the display is naturally not correct.

map24 themselves say that there is no more detailed information available, such as that from "Tele Atlas". By the way, many of the car navigation systems work with it. Therefore there is hope that the display will be more correct in the future.

Please check the dance location of your club in the directory which has been built especially for this test.

Beneath the dance location, there is a link to the route planner from any optional starting point to the dance hall.

Please send Katharina a note if the address of your dance location isn't correct in the database, or let me know if your correct address is used but the position on the map isn't shown correctly - preferably including a description of how the pointer needs to be moved. For the future I plan to make it possible to input  specifications directly, - but this requires much more work.

With very few exceptions, the acceptance of this service was positive. Therefore, as soon as the database is corrected, I will incorporate the links in the directory which is already available on line.

Hilfe gesucht!

Der Erfolg dieses kleinen Hinweises auf unserer Homepage hat mich doch sehr überrascht. Schon Stunden später kamen die ersten mails mit  Bestätigungen und Korrekturvorschlägen. Vielen Dank und Bitte um Verständnis, dass ich nicht alle beantworten konnte. - Aber worum geht es hier eigentlich?

Vereinzelt sind schon auf Club-Homepages eigene Anfahrtskizzen oder Links zu Anbietern von Lageplänen und Routenplanern angebracht. Ich möchte solchen Service für die Tanzplatzadressen aller Clubs im Directory einrichten.

"map24.de" hat in seinen kostenlosen Angeboten auch eines, das mir geeignet für uns erscheint. Es bietet sowohl die Anzeige der Lage des Tanzplatzes an, als auch eine Routenplanung dorthin. Leider ist das Angebot nur kostenlos, aber nicht umsonst: es werden auch einige Werbebanner eingeblendet. Eine Anfrage nach den Bedingungen für eine werbefreie Version läuft noch.

Katharina und ich haben versucht, alle Adressangaben der Tanzplätze zu bereinigen und möglichst zu vervollständigen, um eine korrekte Übergabe dieser Daten an die map24-Seite zu erzeugen. Damit sollten die Lagepläne fast aller Clubs angezeigt werden können.

Es haben sich aber im Lauf der Jahrzehnte in der Club-Datenbank auch einige Fehler und Ungenauigkeiten angesammelt. Ich brauche daher eure Hilfe, da ich nicht die korrekte Anzeige aller über 500 Einträge selbst kontrollieren kann. Allerdings sind leider bei kleineren Orten zum Teil noch nicht alle Strassen erfasst oder es fehlen noch die Positionen der Hausnummern. In diesen Fällen ist die Anzeige natürlich etwas ungenau.

map24 sagt aber von sich selbst, dass es keine detaillierteren Daten als die von "Tele Atlas" gibt. Damit arbeiten übrigens auch viele Auto-Navigationsgeräte, es besteht also die Hoffnung, dass die Anzeige künftig noch genauer wird.

den Lageplan eures Clubs. Unterhalb des Lageplans gibt es auch einen Link zur Anfahrtsplanung von einem beliebigen Startpunkt zum Club-Tanzplatz.

Gebt bitte Katharina Nachricht, wenn eure Tanzplatzadresse nicht korrekt erfasst ist oder mir, wenn bei korrekter Adresse die Position in der Karte nicht stimmt - möglichst mit einer Beschreibung, wie die Nadel verschoben werden sollte. Für einen späteren Zeitpunkt ist für diese Fälle eine direkte Positionsvorgabe geplant - das ist allerdings mit erheblich mehr Aufwand verbunden.

Die Zustimmung zu diesem Service war bei ganz wenigen Ausnahmen positiv. Ich werde daher, sobald der Datenbestand bereinigt ist, die Links in das schon bestehende online-Directory einbauen.
