EAASDC Webmaster

The following innovations have been put onto the eaasdc.eu during the last few weeks:

• By popular request there is now an excel list available in the download section which has all the clubs and their dance addresses. This table will be updated regularly and can be used for example for statistical purposes on the registration table.
• The forum "Friendship Books" has developed into a common discussion area with general square and round dance themes. Everybody can express their opinion there - participation is welcome!
• The overall view for new classes awaits your input. It was mainly started to inform all those who couldn't take part in their own class for a time. Please also tell me the planned or actual end of your class. In the past I have had to rely largely on guesswork.

Whilst visiting club homepages I very often find descriptions and pictures of special events. Unfortunately it is not always realised that this may cause new dancers to lose interest (or fun) in the graduation.
A sincere request from the EAASDC board: please don't put in too many details about the graduation ceremony, your "tests" or other surprises.

The fast electronic communication makes the work within the board much easier, especially when the wrong person was addressed. Nevertheless many things could be handled much faster if you were to approach the right person in the first place:

• Articles / letters from readers: to the editor  editor@eaasdc.eu
• Changes of club data like addresses, dance times, telephone, also email and web addresses ONLY to administration admin@eaasdc.eu - Katharina keeps the club database updated which is used to prepare the directory and the search option on the internet.
• Calendar entrances (with GEMA-form) and changes to them ONLY to event.registration@eaasdc.eu - the calendar will be prepared there and passed on to Klaus for the bulletin and me for the internet.
• Advertisements / Flyer for publication in the bulletin ONLY to admin@eaasdc.eu - Katharina administers the orders and passes them on to Klaus for the bulletin and me for the internet calendar.
• Flyers / links for the calendar for the eaasdc.eu homepage without an advertisement in the bulletin: to me, webmaster@eaasdc.eu. I will continue to do my best to fulfil all your wishes.

The EAASDC archive incorporates some very interesting documents on the history of square dancing in Europe. Since they are gradually starting to fade it is our intention to digitize them, allocate catch-words to them and store them in an open common database.
Is there anyone that has experience in this field and would be willing to support us in word (and deed)?

In den letzten Wochen gab es folgende Neuheiten auf eaasdc.eu:

• auf vielfachen Wusch gibt es im Download-Bereich jetzt eine Excel-Tabelle mit allen Clubs und ihren Tanzplätzen. Diese Tabelle wird regelmäßig aktualisiert und kann für Statistiken z.B. am Registration-Tisch verwendet werden.
  
• das Forum "Friendship Book"  hat sich zu einer Diskussionsrunde mit allgemeinen Square- und Round-Themen weiterentwickelt. Jeder kann dort seine Meinung äußern - Beteiligung ist erwünscht!
• Die Übersicht "Classes" wartet auf eure Meldungen. Sie wurde vor allem zur Information für diejenigen eingerichtet, die für einige Zeit an ihrer "Heimat-Class" nicht teilnehmen können. Bitte teilt mir auch das geplante oder tatsächliche Ende einer Class mit, bisher bin ich meist auf Schätzungen angewiesen.

Bei meinen Besuchen der Club-Homepages finde ich auch oft Beschreibungen und Bilder besonderer Veranstaltungen. Leider wird nicht immer beachtet, dass damit künftigen Tänzern der Spaß an der Graduation verdorben werden kann.
Eine herzliche Bitte des EAASDC-Boards: verbreitet nicht zu viele Einzelheiten der Graduationzeremonie, ihrer "Prüfungen" und sonstigen Überraschungen.

Die schnelle elektronische Kommunikation erleichtert die Zusammenarbeit innerhalb des Boards sehr, vor allem wenn der falsche Ansprechpartner adressiert wurde. Manches geht aber schneller, wenn ihr euch gleich an den Richtigen wendet:

• Artikel / Leserbriefe für das Bulletin an editor@eaasdc.eu
  
• Clubdatenänderungen wie Adressen, Tanzzeiten, Telefon, auch e-mail und Web-Adressen nur an Administration admin@eaasdc.eu - Katharina pflegt unsere Club-Datenbank, aus der auch das Directory und die Internetsuche erstellt werden.
  
• Kalender-Einträge (mit GEMA-Formular) und -Änderungen nur an event.registration@eaasdc.eu - Der Kalender wird von dort an Klaus für das Bulletin und an mich für das Internet weitergegeben.
• Anzeigen / Flyer zum Abdruck im Bulletin: nur an admin@eaasdc.eu - Katharina verwaltet die Aufträge und gibt sie an Klaus für das Bulletin und mich für den Internetkalender weiter.
  
• Flyer / Links für den Kalender auf den eaasdc.eu-Seiten ohne Anzeige im Bulletin: an webmaster@eaasdc.eu - Ich bemühe mich weiter, wie bisher alle Wünsche zu erfüllen.

Das EAASDC-Archiv enthält eine Reihe interessanter Dokumente zur Geschichte des Square Dance in Europa. Da sie allmählich zu verblassen drohen, wollen wir sie digitalisieren, verschlagworten und in einer allgemein zugänglichen Datenbank speichern.
Gibt es unter euch jemanden, der Erfahrungen auf diesem Gebiet hat und bereit ist, uns mit Rat (und Tat) zu unterstützen?
