News of the 7th iPAC /
Neues von der 7. iPAC

Dear Square Dancers,
Contrary to all the rumours – there will
be another iPAC, the International Plus,
Advanced and Challenge Convention. It
definitely will take place in Barmstedt,
Germany on July 8-10, 2005.
The Percolators e.V., Germany is the
hosting club under the patronage of
Dave Wilson. Steffen Mauring and Juer-
gen Saeftel are responsible for the or-
ganization of the convention.
What’s special about the iPAC?
•
Callers and dancers from all over the
world attend this convention. By now
already more than 200 dancers have
registered, among them 20 dancers
from Japan! Top world renown callers
are lined up for your entertainment
(Bronc Wise from California has re-
cently joined the staff callers), as well
as some of your favourite German
callers.
•
Each of the 8 halls is designated to
one of the programs Plus through
C3B so that you can dance whatever
program you choose at any time dur-
ing the whole convention.
•
iPAC dancers can dance different pro-
grams by changing halls, perhaps fol-
lowing a favourite caller from hall to
hall, or just watch a higher program
they might want to tackle in the fu-
ture.
•
Each program runs for 16 hours or
more. As the callers change halls every
90 minutes the dancers can enjoy a va-
riety of top callers even if staying in
just one hall.
•

Auch wenn ihr etwas anderes gehört haben
solltet: Die nächste iPAC, die Internationale
Plus, Advanced und Challenge Convention,
wird definitiv vom 8.-10. Juli 2005 in Barm-
stedt stattfinden.
Die Percolators Germany e.V. werden in
bewährter Weise der veranstaltende Club
sein, unter der Schirmherrschaft von Dave
Wilson. Steffen Mauring und Jürgen Saeftel
zeichnen verantwortlich für die Organisation
der Convention.
Was ist das Besondere an der iPAC?
•
Caller und Tänzer aus aller Welt kommen
zu dieser Convention. Schon jetzt haben
sich gut 200 Tänzer angemeldet, darunter
eine Gruppe von 20 Tänzern aus Japan!
Weltbekannte Spitzencaller sorgen für gu-
te Unterhaltung (kürzlich konnten wir
auch Bronc Wise aus Kalifornien als staff
caller gewinnen), ebenso wie einige Eurer
deutschen Lieblingscaller.
•
Getanzt wird in 8 Hallen. Es werden wäh-
rend der ganzen iPAC Convention alle
Programme von Plus bis C3B gleichzeitig
angeboten.
•
Alle iPAC-Tänzer können nach Belieben
die Halle wechseln und so in verschiede-
nen Hallen tanzen, vielleicht mit einem
Lieblingscaller mitwandern, oder bei ei-
nem Programm zuschauen, das sie dem-
nächst in Angriff nehmen wollen.
•
Jedes der Programme wird 16 Stunden
oder länger geboten. Auch wer in einer
Halle bleibt, erlebt viele verschiedene
Weltklasse Caller, denn alle 90 Minuten
wechseln sich die Caller ab.
•
Besonders viel geboten ist im Plus-

sions more activities are offered at this
program: the open-air dance in the
Market Square and the Farewell Dance
(both on Sunday). Dancers arriving on
Thursday can get in the mood dancing
at the Plus Trail End Dance.
•
There will be a Pre-Trail End Dance
(C1) on Wednesday for dancers who
are already in the area vacationing.
There are many worthwhile sights in
and around Barmstedt: The “Castle
Island” with its Jail Café, a swimming
pool (with a wave-making machine!),
the “Arboretum” (a park featuring
special trees).
•
The Baltic and the North Sea are not
far away. You might go on a hike
through the “Watt” (mud flats), maybe
in a group. Dancing and vacationing
go together well in this part of the
country.
•
At the after-parties you can join a con-
tra dance (Friday) and enjoy the music
of a live jazz band (Saturday).
•
New on the schedule: A Caller Show-
case on Friday morning where you can
dance to talented callers from many
countries. Don’t forget to mark it on
your calendar. As usual a callers’ clinic
is scheduled for Sunday morning.
•
Overnight accommodation in the hall
and space at camping grounds right
next to the dance halls are – tradition-
ally – free of charge. There is ample
space for tents, trailers and RVs. A
number of beds are available at rea-
sonable rates at the “Jugend-
bildungsstätte in Barmstedt” (youth
hostel). For further information con-

Tanz mit Plus gestaltet. Für alle, die schon
am Donnerstag in Barmstedt sind, bietet
der Trail End Dance eine schöne Ein-
stimmung auf das Wochenende.
•
Für alle, die Urlaub in der Region machen,
gibt es am Mittwochabend als Auftakt ei-
nen Pre-Trail End Dance mit C1. Aus-
flugsziele gibt es jede Menge in und um
Barmstedt: Die Schlossinsel mit Gefäng-
niscafé, ein Wellenbad, den sehenswerten
Baumpark „Arboretum“.
•
Auch Ost- und Nordsee sind leicht zu
erreichen. Wer von euch hat schon mal
eine Wattwanderung mitgemacht? Hättet
ihr sogar Interesse daran, das gemeinsam
als Gruppe zu erleben? Tanzen und Ur-
laub lassen sich in Barmstedt wunderbar
kombinieren.
•
Bei den Afterparties kann man sich am
Freitag beim Contra Dance versuchen
und am Samstag sorgt eine Jazzband für
den musikalischen Rahmen.
•
Neu im Programm ist der Caller Showca-
se, bei dem man zu talentierten Callern
aus zahlreichen Ländern tanzen kann.
Diesen Termin solltet ihr euch im Kalen-
der vormerken. Wie üblich findet am
Sonntagmorgen eine Caller Clinic statt.
•
Aus guter Tradition ist die Unterbringung
in der Tanzhalle ebenso kostenlos wie das
Camping direkt an den Hallen. Zum Ab-
stellen von Campern, Wohnmobilen und
Zelten ist ausreichend Platz vorhanden. In
der Jugendbildungsstätte Barmstedt ist ei-
ne Anzahl von Betten auch noch zur
Conventionzeit günstig zu haben. Wendet
