Dogs in the Dancing Hall / Hunde im Tanzsaal

While at the Fall Round-Up in Reilingen

I sadly observed several dogs in the dance

hall. Even upon request they were not

moved to the foyer. Reason: “I always

bring my dog to special dances”. There

are though several possibilities to keep

their “babies” outside the halls:

1. Leave them at home.

2. Leave them in your Camper, Car or

Hotel Room.

3. Leave them in the foyer.

Most dog owners are respectful to the

situation and leave their animals out of

the dance hall whereby I want to person-

ally thank those who do. Sadly though

there are a few “Black Sheep” who make

this response a necessity. Dogs “nor-

mally” really don’t have a reason to be in

the dance halls. A few reasons are as

follows:

Fear of Dogs (Cynophobia)

Allergies (Ref. Bulletin May 2004,

pgs, 75-76)

Hygienic Reasons

A request to the Club Boards: Advise

your dog owning, travelling club members

of this situation.

Dog Owners: Please, think this situation

over, not only from your own perspective,

but also from that of the many other

dancers.

For Hosts of Special Dances: a reference:

In the Bulletin May 2006 p. 67/68 in the

article “Flyer design and contents” is

printed the following advice to pick up in

flyers:

A note concerning the presence of

animals at an event, such as: “Please, no

dogs in the hall while dancing is going

on”. Transl.: John & Margit Sanderlin

Beim Fall Round Up in Reilingen habe ich

es leider erleben müssen: Mehrere Hunde

gleichzeitig im Tanzsaal. Und trotz Auffor-

derung wurden die Hunde nicht in den

Vorraum gebracht. Begründung: „Ich neh-

me meinen Hund immer auf Specials mit“.

Es gibt aber für Tänzer mehrere Möglich-

keiten, „ihren Liebling“ außerhalb des

Tanzsaales unterzubringen:

1. Tiere zuhause lassen

2. Hunde im Wohnmobil, Auto oder

Hotelzimmer lassen

3. Hunde im Vorraum eines Tanzsaals

unterbringen.

Die allermeisten Hundehalter nehmen

Rücksicht und ihre Tiere lassen außerhalb

der Tanzhalle, wofür ich mich hier aus-

drücklich bedanken möchte. Leider gibt es,

wie überall, einige wenige „schwarze

Schafe“, die diesen Aufruf nötig machen.

Hunde haben im Tanzsaal nichts zu suchen.

Gründe gibt es dafür mehrere:

Angst vor Hunden (Hundephobie)

Hundehaarallergie

(vgl. Bulletin Mai 2004, S. 75-76)

hygienische Probleme bzw. Bedenken

Eine Bitte an die Clubvorstände: Weist eure

reisenden Tänzer mit Tieren auf diese

Problematik hin.

Hundebesitzer bitte ich, das Ganze mal

nicht nur aus der eigenen Sicht sondern aus

der Perspektive der vielen anderen Tänzer

zu sehen.

Für Veranstalter von Specials ein Hinweis:

Im Bulletin Mai 2006 S. 67/68 steht im

Artikel „Gestaltung von Flyern“ der Rat,

folgenden Punkt im Flyer aufzunehmen:

Hinweis auf Tiere während der Veran-

staltung, z.B. „Bitte keine Hunde im Saal

während des Tanzprogrammes“.
