Birthday of / 15. Geburtstag des SDC Thunderbirds e.V.

On 24.06.1992, 14 dancers founded the
Thunderbirds in Dexheim in a room of
the Chapel on the US Army Base there.
With them was the future caller of the
Thunderbirds – John Chauvin.
Club Caller John Chauvin
On 03.07.1992 the first official club
evening of the SDC Thunderbirds took
place, greeting guests from Mannheim
and Cincinnati, USA.
In October of the same year the first
class evening started with 21 partici-
pants.
In the following years there were many
special events. Some of the more
memorable are: Hosting an ECTA Con-
vention Dance on 18.06.1994, a Special
Club Night with Ron Libby, hosting our
Special “Moguntia-Dance” six times
between 1996 and 2002, Television
appearances at SWR and ZDF, club
weekends in youth hostels and vacation
houses in the Netherlands, to name a
few.
In December 2004, our caller of many
years left us. Family reasons took him to
Bavaria.
As successor we found Thomas Hoff-
mann, who has been able to provide us

Dexheim, im Nebenraum der Kapelle auf
dem Gelände der US-Armee von 14 Tänzern
gegründet. Mit dabei war auch der zukünf-
tige Clubcaller, John Chauvin.
Gründungsversammlung 1992
Am 03.07.1992 dann der 1. offizielle Club-
abend des SDC Thunderbirds, an dem dann
bereits Gäste aus Mannheim und aus Cinnci-
netti, USA, begrüßt werden durften.
Im Oktober des gleichen Jahres fand der
1. Classabend mit 21 Teilnehmern statt.
In den folgenden Jahren gab es viele beson-
dere Ereignisse, die in Erinnerung bleiben:
die Ausrichtung eines Convention-Dance im
Rahmen einer ECTA-Conven-tion am
18.06.1994, eine Special-Club-Night mit Ron
Libby, zwischen 1996 und 2002 sechsmal
unser „Monguntia-Dance“, Auftritte bei
SWF und SWR und im ZDF-Sonntags-
konzert, Clubwochenenden in Jugendherber-
gen, in Ferienhäusern in Holland usw.
Im Dezember 2004 verließ uns unser lang-
jähriger Caller John Chauvin, den es aus fa-
miliären Gründen nach Bayern zog.
Als Nachfolger konnten wir Thomas Hoff-
mann gewinnen, mit dem wir nun wieder
jemanden gefunden haben, der uns immer
wieder auf´s Neue herausfordert und uns
