June the Euro-
pean Convention will take place in
Hochheim am Main (near Wiesbaden).
Some dancers now ask me: Is there a
progression of “Jamboree” to “Round
Up” and to "Convention"? And, if so,
what are the differences?
Jamboree
This is a joint event of EAASDC and
ECTA, which is organized by an
EAASDC member club.
The dance program in the main hall on
Friday and Saturday evening must not
exceed the Mainstream program. It
should be possible to dance Main-
stream continuously. Other dancing
programs will be offered only when
there are sufficient other rooms avail-
able.
The Leaders (Callers, Cuers, Prompter)
are recruited from ECTA.
A Jamboree should bring all dancers
from the EAASDC together at one
place to deepen the community experi-
ence of our leisure time activity. There
are usually some 500 – 1,500 dancers.
Fall Round Up
This is a special Jamboree. During the
Fall Round Up the regular EAASDC
membership meeting takes place. At
this meeting (every two years) the
EAASDC President and his Board are
elected.
European Convention
The EC is organized in rotation by the
umbrella organisations of the square
dance clubs in England, Denmark,
Germany, Sweden and The Nether-
lands. It takes place only every 2 years
Im nächsten Jahr findet vom 6.-8. Juni die
European Convention in Hochheim am Main
(in der Nähe von Wiesbaden) statt. Manche
Tänzer fragten mich nun: Gibt es eine Steige-
rung von „Jamboree“ zu „Round Up“ und zu
„Convention“? Und wenn ja, wo liegen die
Unterschiede?
Jamboree
Ein Jamboree (es heißt übrigens das Jamboree
und nicht die Jamboree) ist eine gemeinsame
Veranstaltung von EAASDC und ECTA, die
jeweils von einem anderen EAASDC-Mitglieds-
club durchgeführt wird.
Das Tanzprogramm in der Haupthalle am
Freitag- und Samstagabend sollte nicht über
Mainstream hinausgehen. Es sollte möglichst
durchgängig Mainstream getanzt werden kön-
nen. Andere Tanzprogramme gibt es nur bei
ausreichendem Raumangebot.
Die Leader (Caller, Cuer, Prompter) werden
von ECTA gestellt.
Ein Jamboree sollte alle Tänzer der EAASDC
an einem Ort zusammenführen, um das Ge-
meinschaftserlebnis unserer Freizeitaktivität zu
vertiefen. Es kommen ca. 500 – 1.500 Tänzer.
Fall Round Up
Das Fall Round Up ist ein spezielles Jamboree.
(Fall = Herbst, Round Up = Treffen => Fall
Round Up = Herbsttreffen). Während des Fall
Round Up findet jährlich die ordentliche Mitglie-
derversammlung der EAASDC statt. Auf dieser
Versammlung erfolgt (alle zwei Jahre) die Wahl
des EAASDC Präsidenten und seines Vor-
stands.
European Convention
Die EC wird im Wechsel organisiert von den
Dachverbänden der Square-Dance-Clubs in
England, Dänemark, Deutschland, Schweden
und den Niederlanden. Sie findet nur alle zwei
Jamboree, Round Up, Convention
