| About 3 years ago we (Monika and Ingrid from
the Lucky Dukes, Jülich) wanted to attend an introduction to square
dance offered by the VHS (adult education). We thought it was that wild
dance which is always called square dance in those films. For a weekend,
we thought, it would be a great thing to do. But the lady caller Ingeborg
Körber-Lücker showed us in a short while that square dance is
a lot more interesting than that. After two hours we agreed: LET'S CONTINUE.
We registered for a class at the VHS as there was no club yet in our town.
The students in this class also agreed: WE'LL CONTINUE, and as we wanted
to do this together we founded the Lucky Dukes in May 1998.
The graduation and the founding of the club were celebrated jointly with the special dance "Halloween 98". It was a great event, we had many unexpected guests, even some from Berlin. Many positive comments encouraged us: "WE'LL CONTINUE THAT AS WELL. So there will be another Halloween Dance this year. On October 30, 1999 witches and vampires will be dancing again in the Bürgerhalle Koslar. Of course we are also pleased to welcome visitors every Monday. Our club night takes place at the Bürgerhalle Koslar, starting at 19:00. Right now we have 19 members, at the end of the year, after graduation, we'll probably be 30. Vor ca. 3 Jahren wollten wir, d.h. Monika und
Ingrid von den Lucky Dukes aus Jülich, nur so zum Spaß einen
Schnupperkurs Square Dance bei der VHS mitmachen. Wir dachten, das wäre
dieser wilde Tanz, der in den Filmen immer als Square Dance gezeigt wird.
Für ein Wochenende fanden wir das auch eine tolle Sache. Allerdings
zeigte uns unsere Callerin Ingeborg Körber-Lücker dann nach kurzer
Zeit, daß Square Dance in Wirklichkeit viel interessanter ist. Nach
ca. 2 Stunden waren wir uns einig: "DAS MACHEN WIR WEITER". Wir gingen
in eine Class der VHS, da in unserer Stadt noch kein Club bestand. Die
Students dieser Class waren sich auch einig: "WIR MACHEN WEITER", und da
wir dies gemeinsam tun wollten, gründeten wir im Mai '98 die "Lucky
Dukes".
Unsere Graduierung feierten wir dann zusammen mit unserer Clubgründung "Halloween 98". Es war ein tolles Fest, wir hatten viele unerwartete Gäste, sogar aus Berlin. Viele positive Reaktionen haben uns darin bestärkt: "WIR MACHEN AUCH DAMIT WEITER". Somit wird es auch in diesem Jahr einen "Halloween Dance" geben. Am 30. Oktober 99 tanzen in der Bürgerhalle Koslar wieder Hexen und Vampire. Natürlich freuen wir uns auch jeden Montag über Besuch. Unser Clubabend findet auch in der Bürgerhalle Koslar statt, wir tanzen ab 19.00 Uhr. Zur Zeit besteht unser Club aus 19 Mitgliedern, zum Jahresende werden wir wohl auf 30 Tänzer anwachsen, wenn die neue Class graduiert wird. So, wenn Ihr Lust bekommen habt uns kennenzulernen, wir wären froh, Euch bei uns zu begrüßen. |
