Here´s Tina again with some Clogging news again.

The 1st ECTA Clog-Convention in Schwäbisch Hall is already over. I would like to say thanks to Elli, Heike, Geli and to all the quiet helpers working backstage for a great show. Dancers from all over Germany, among a great group from Berlin, the Netherlands, Denmark and a Dancer from Ireland, who found the way to Schwäbisch Hall. There were also a lot of beginners around Schwäbisch Hall and from Berlin, who worked their way through the crashcourse very well. During the Clogger workshops, from Easy to Advanced, Buck, Canadian Touch or Apalachian, there was a little bit of everything for everybody. The accomodations were well organized and the dancing in the halls were quiet good. The background was o.k., food and drinks were available enough, to replace the lost calories.

For a Clogging Coordinator there's always a "but", that's why I have to make a critical remark, too. I would have wished for the "Sweethearts Beats", that more Cloggers would have taken part at this Convention. On the one hand we can't complain, that we were "drowning" in Square Dance offers and on the other hand we didn't take those chance.

I'm very confident, that the 2nd ECTA Clog Convention in Aurich will be at least as successful as the last one. You should make a mark in your calendar for the next meeting: 28^th - 30^th August 98. It's the last holiday weekend in Lower Saxony, and East Frisia is always worth a trip. There will be a rounded up program and also a course for beginners. Accommodation in the hall and possibilities for parking in front of the hall will be available.

We appreciate that a lot of people from the different Square Dance Clubs offered their time and help already. The Cooperation between the Square Dance and the Clogging Clubs up here in the Weser-Ems-Region works out very well, that also has to be said.

Here a Caller advertises in a flyer for a Plus-Class and a Clogging Class at the same time, without having fear on a competing thought of dancers, that might stay away. This is what I call "great". In similar examples I'm imaging a cooperation between the clubs. If some people say: "we do this for a long time already", then please write to me and I'll write about it in the next report.

If there are people among you, who want to get to know Clogging, but don't know how, they can turn to me for information. Even there will be no Clogging-Clubs around the area, there are Instructors who are willing to travel, for instance for a weekend, or once or twice a month (Sa. or Su.). This has to be cleared up. Most of the time there will be somebody who will continue the leading further. Every White Badge Instructor can and will train and teach new Instructors.

hier ist wieder Eure Tina mit Cloggingneuheiten.

Die 1. ECTA Clog-Convention in Schwäbisch Hall ist ja nun auch schon vorbei. Ich möchte Elli, Heike, Geli und allen stillen Helfern hinter den Kulissen nochmal vielen Dank sagen für eine rundum gelungene Veranstaltung. Tänzer aus ganz Deutschland, darunter eine tolle Gruppe aus Berlin, aus Holland, aus Dänemark und eine Tänzerin aus Irland haben den Weg nach Schwäbisch Hall gefunden. Dazu gab es auch noch viele absolute Beginner rund um Schwäbisch Hall und Berlin, die sich tapfer durch den Crashkurs geackert hatten. Währenddessen gab es für die Clogger Workshops von Easy bis Advanced, Buck, Canadian Touch oder Apalachian. Es war wirklich für jeden etwas dabei. Auch das Umfeld stimmte, Essen und Getränke, um den abtrainierten Kalorienbedarf zu ersetzen, waren zur Genüge da. In den Hallen ließ es sich gut tanzen und die Übernachtung war auch geregelt.

Aber ein Clogging Coordinator hat ja immer ein "aber", darum habe ich auch noch eine kritische Anmerkung: Ich hätte mir und den "Sweetheart Beats" gewünscht, daß noch mehr Clogger teilgenommen hätten. Wir dürfen uns auf der einen Seite nicht beklagen, daß wir im Square Dance Angebot untergehen und auf der anderen Seite eine solche Gelegenheit nicht wahrnehmen.

Ich bin daher ganz zuversichtlich, daß die 2. E:C:C: in Aurich mindestens genauso erfolgreich wird. Ihr solltet den Termin gleich eintragen: 28. - 30. August 1998. Es ist das letzte Ferienwochenende in Niedersachsen und Ostfriesland ist eine Reise wert. Es wird wieder ein rundes Programm geben, auch einen Beginnerkurs für Einsteiger. Übernachtung in der Halle ist ebenfalls möglich und Parken vor den Hallen geht auch.

Für die viele Arbeit haben sich jetzt schon Helfer aus den verschiedenen Square Dance Clubs der Region gemeldet, was wir natürlich sehr schön finden. Hier oben in der Weser-Ems-Region ist die Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Square Dance- und den Clogging-Clubs ganz hervorragend, das muß auch einmal gesagt werden.

Hier wirbt ein Caller auf seinem Flyer gleichzeitig für eine Plus-Class und für eine Clogging-Class. Ohne Konkurrenzdenken oder die Angst, daß ihm die Tänzer wegbleiben. Das nenne ich einfach toll. So oder in ähnlichen Beispielen stelle ich mir eine Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Clubs vor. Wenn jetzt einige sagen: "Machen wir schon lange so", dann schreibt mir doch. Ich erzähle es dann im nächsten Bericht.

Wenn es nun unter den Nicht-Cloggern einige gibt, die gern Clogging lernen möchten, aber nicht wissen, wie, können sie sich zwecks Information an mich wenden. Auch wenn kein Clogging Club in der Nähe ist, gibt es Instructor, die bereit sind, zu reisen. Z.B. ein Weekend oder 1-2mal im Monat ein Sa. oder So., das kann dann abgesprochen werden. Meist ist auch jemand da, der die Leitung dann weiter übernehmen möchte, jeder White Badge Instructor kann auch neue Instructor ausbilden und macht das auch. Also, Lust auf Clogging? Dann meldet Euch bei mir.
