| Dear Square Dance Friends,
the First European Convention is over now, and we all are looking forward to Helsingborg/Sweden in the year 2000. As a little rest has come to my home office, I wish to take the opportunity to thank all those who have contributed to the success of the European Convention 1997. First of all thanks to all dancers who came in large numbers from nearly all European countries and from the USA. Without you this event would not exist. Thanks to all of you who said 'thank you' verbally, by letter, fax or email and conveyed the pleasure they had during the convention. Secondly I want to thank our organisation committee |
Liebe Square Dance Freunde
Die erste European Convention ist nun Vergangenheit und wir blicken alle ins Jahr 2000 nach Helsingborg Schweden. Da in meinem Büro zu Hause nun etwas Ruhe eingekehrt ist, möchte ich die Gelegenheit nutzen, mich bei allen zu bedanken, die zum Erfolg der "European Convention 1997" beigetragen haben. Als erstes bei den so zahlreich angereisten Tänzerinnen und Tänzern aus fast allen Ländern Europas und den USA, denn ohne Euch gäbe es diese Veranstaltung nicht. Ein Dank auch an alle, die sich nach der Veranstaltung mündlich oder schriftlich, per Fax oder email an uns gewandt haben, um sich zu bedanken und um uns Ihre Freude, die Sie bei der Veranstaltung hatten, mitzuteilen. preparatory phase. During the monthly meetings and innumerable phone calls
and conversations all things could be solved and organised which were necessary
to make sure things ran smoothly - outwardly or in the background. Thank
you, it was super to work together with you!

der über die zwei Jahre Organisationszeit so gut zusammen
gearbeitet hat, herzlich bedanken. In den monatlichen Sitzungen und unzählig
vielen Telefonaten und Gesprächen konnte all das abgeklärt und
organisiert werden, was nach außen hin und im Hintergrund für
den reibungslosen Ablauf der Convention notwendig war.

for particular fields. Thanks to all participants of these clubs; you have
contributed a great deal to make the event a success. Also thanks to those
dancers who do not belong to the above mentioned clubs, but also offered
their help and worked on many places too.

| You were great and it was lot of fun to dance

For the statisticians among you now an overall view with some interpretations I made after the European Convention. Basis is the data I got from the pre-registration and the box office. Altogether 2107 dancers from 13 countries took part in the 1. European Convention. |
Ihr ward ganz toll und es hat Riesenspaß
gemacht, zu Euch zu tanzen.
Für die Statistiker unter Euch nun ein Überblick mit ein paar Auswertungen, die ich im Anschluß an die European Convention gemacht habe. Basis sind die Daten, die ich durch die Voranmeldung und den Angaben der Abendkasse hatte. Insgesamt haben 2107 Tänzerinnen und Tänzer aus 13 Ländern an der 1. European Convention teilgenommen. |

| In conclusion another overview how the pre-registrations came in. In this connection it turned out that the deadline caused a noticeable increase and the approx. 25% of the dancers decided to make use of the box office. | Zum Abschluß der Zahlen noch einen Überblick, wie die Anmeldungen eingegangen sind. Hierbei zeigt sich, daß unser Anmeldeschluß doch ganz deutlich einen Zuwachs ergab und daß rund 25% der Tänzer sich für die Abendkasse entschieden haben. |
| Finally I want to tell you that
we will pass on our knowledge and your suggestions at the future planning
during the international meetings of the Square Dance organizations. As
a matter of course we are at your disposal with the experiences we made
during the planning and realization.

Zum Schluß möchte ich Euch noch sagen, daß wir unsere Erkenntnisse und Eure Anregungen bei den zukünftigen Planungen auf den internationalen Treffen der Square Dance Dachverbände weitergeben werden. Natürlich stehen wir auch Euch mit unseren Erfahrungen, die wir bei der Planung und Durchführung gemacht haben, zur Verfügung. | |
