If the T2000 proposal is approved then CALLERLAB will take the next year to work out the new programs in special committees. The membership will then decide whether to accept the new programs or to stay with the current system (B, MS, +).

According to the board of the "European Callers and Teachers Association" (ECTA e.V.) the Square Dance scene in Europe carries very much for the problems in America. If there really is a need to change the existing programs, ECTA is more than willing to play an active role to guarantee that Square Dance will be an attractive hobby of the upcoming millennium. But nevertheless, the T2000 proposal tries to mainly solve local problems. Unfortunately, European organizations that represent callers or dancers, were never officially consulted in this case. Their input is now missing.

Parts of the proposal are very interesting for Europe: Basic as an entrance level as well as the definition of "standard" and "extended" applications and their incorporation into the programs.

But the merging of MS and Plus into one single list would turn out to be a large burden to the European activity. In Europe the MS and Plus levels work very well and things as "Soft Plus" cannot be observed. According to the ECTA board, if MS and Plus would be combined the MS clubs would have a hard time to adjust to the new list, resulting in a large loss of members. In order to survive, the Plus clubs, offering higher level dancing to people that are still members of MS-clubs, too, would have to progress into the Advanced level. This would be the pushing into higher levels, the T2000 proposals claims to avoid.

Because of the fact that the membership of CALLERLAB will have to vote on the complete proposal only, the ECTA board recommends it's CALLERLAB members to vote NO on the T2000 proposal.

ECTA will do as much as possible to uphold standardization (at present the CALLERLAB programs are part of the constitution). If T2000 would be implemented, ECTA will invite the other European organizations to evaluate the possibilities on whether and how to implement T2000 while guaranteeing the survival of the activity in Europe.

Ihre Vorstellungen und Meinungen fehlen nun.

Teile des Vorschlags sind für Europa sehr interessant: Basic als Einstiegsprogramm genauso wie die Definition von "Standard" und "erweiterter Anwendung" und ihre Einbindung in die Tanzprogramme.

Aber die Vermischung von MS und Plus zu nur einem Programm würde die europäische Aktivität stark belasten. In Europa funktionieren die MS- und Plus-Programme sehr gut und Dinge wie "Soft-Plus" gibt es nicht. Nach Ansicht des ECTA-Boards würden sich die MS-Clubs bei Kombination von MS und Plus sehr schwer tun mit der Anpassung an die neuen Listen und als Ergebnis einen großen Mitgliederverlust erleiden. Die Plus-Clubs, die heute den auch noch MS-Clubs angehörenden Mitgliedern ein "höheres" Programm anbieten, müßten in das Advanced Programm weitergehen, um zu überleben. Das würde einen Druck in höhere Programme bedeuten, den der T2000-Vorschlag zu vermeiden behauptet.

Angesichts der Tatsache, daß die Mitgliedschaft von CALLERLAB nur über den Vorschlag als Ganzes abstimmen kann, empfiehlt der ECTA-Vorstand seinen CALLERLAB-Mitgliedern GEGEN den T200-Vorschlag zu stimmen .

ECTA wird das Möglichste tun, um die Standardisierung aufrechtzuerhalten (derzeit sind die CALLERLAB Programme Teil der Satzung). Wenn T2000 eingeführt werden sollte, wird ECTA die anderen europäischen Organisationen einladen zu untersuchen, ob und wie T2000 eingeführt werden kann unter Beibehaltung einer Überlebensgarantie für die Aktivität in Europa.
