Hello and Moin Moin, we have all noticed that the cold season has begun. The heating is set in the living room, and again we wear our pullovers. While driving the car we keep the windows closed. I think the year has past by very fast. Our ECTA Clog Convention took place two months ago, but despite, I want to tell something about it. We had 119 participants. That doesn’t sound too much. Imaging that Clogging is not spread too much and not all Cloggers are fond of traveling, the number of participants is still OK. Clogger and beginners, too, from everywhere found the way to us. (Ireland, Denmark, Munich to Flensburg). I appreciated very much the assistance of the non-Cloggers. A lot of Square Dancers out of region came to our Clog Convention and took over a lot of work, so our cloggers found some time to dance the Workshops. Especially I want to name family Grimm from Augsburg, Dancers of the "Yellow Rose". Being on holiday in the north of our country, the stayed here for some days before the beginning of the Clog Convention. Thus helping us setting up and decorate the hall. "The bar" from that point on was territory sovereign of family Grimm. They spend 4 days of their holidays just to help us. This proves again that our hobby means: friendship, pleasure and assistance. Now to the program of the Clog Convention: ECTA Instructors, who had come here from everywhere, taught all the Workshops. In this way, 30 songs/choreos could be learnt in 3 halls. On Friday we started with the welcome dance, dancing just for fun. On Saturday there was Workshop time from 10.00 am to 6.00 p.m. The evening began with the special Grand March. Gunnar, a dancer out of my Club, had written the choreo for it, and we noticed that we can walk/dance an interesting Grand March instead of running in a circle. On Sunday there were also some Workshops on the Program and we closed the Convention with the goodbye Dance. After cleaning up everything I was very happy to leave everything behind me, although everything worked out well. I am looking forward to the next Convention in which I will participate just as a dancer. Not having to plan and organize. The next performance offering Clogging will be the American dance and music Festival from 5th – 7th in Vienna. I will take a relive in order to go there. You will find many American Instructors within the program and Irish Dance Workshop also offers modern Clogging. I enjoy Irish Dance very much and the "Lord of the dance" I watched live in Oberhausen and "Riverdance" in Bremen. I watched it a dozen times on video. (I like to watch it, while ironing). Hallo und Moin, wir alle merken, daß die kalte Jahreszeit angebrochen ist. Die Heizung wird in der Wohnung angedreht, man trägt wieder Pulli, und beim Auto fahren bleibt das Fenster geschlossen. Mir ist das Jahr zu schnell vorbei gegangen. Unsere ECTA Clog Convention liegt nun auch schon zwei Monate zurück. Ich möchte Euch aber noch etwas darüber berichten. Wir hatten 119 Teilnehmer. Das klingt natürlich recht wenig, wenn man dies mit einer Square Dance Veranstaltung vergleicht. Aber da Clogging noch nicht so weit verbreitet ist und auch die Tänzer von den Clubs nicht immer so ganz reisefreudig sind, ist diese Anzahl von Teilnehmern für uns schon recht viel. Fortgeschrittene und auch Anfänger von überall (Dänemark, Irland, München bis Flensburg) hatten den Weg zu uns gefunden. Besonders toll fand ich die Hilfe, die wir von "Nicht-Cloggern" bekommen haben. Viele Square Dancer aus unserer Region kamen zur Clog Convention, um uns Arbeiten abzunehmen, so daß die Clogger aus unseren Clubs die Zeit hatten, die WS zu tanzen. Extra erwähnen möchte ich die Fam. Grimm aus Augsburg von den "Yellow Rose". Sie hatten ihren Urlaub bei uns im Norden gemacht. Schon ein paar Tage vor der Clog Convention halfen sie beim Aufbauen und Dekorieren der Hallen. Ab Freitag waren sie dann im Dauereinsatz. Die Theke wurde ab sofort "Grimm'sches Hoheitsgebiet." So verbrachten sie 4 Tage ihres Urlaubs damit, uns zu helfen. Dies zeigt uns mal wieder, daß unser Hobby Freundschaft, Freude und Hilfe bedeutet. Nun wieder zum Ablauf der Convention: Alle Workshops wurden von ECTA Instructors gegeben. 14 waren auf dem Programm. Diese waren auch extra dafür von überall her gekommen. 30 Lieder/Choreo konnten in 3 Hallen gelernt werden. Am Freitag starteten wir mit dem Welcome Dance: Tanzen "Just for fun". Samstag war von 10.00 Uhr – 18.00 Uhr Workshop-Time. Der Abend begann dann mit einem besonderen Grand March. Gunnar, ein Tänzer aus meinem Club, hat die Choreo darauf geschrieben. Wir haben festgestellt, daß man doch einen interessanten Grand March Tanzen/Gehen kann und nicht nur einmal im Ring herumlaufen muß. Am Sonntag waren dann noch ein paar Workshops auf dem Programm und mit dem Abschieds-Dance wurde unsere Clog Convention beendet. Nachdem wir dann alles aufgeräumt haben, war ich dann doch froh, alles hinter mir zu haben. Ich freue mich darauf, an der nächsten Clog Convention nur als Tänzer teilzunehmen und nichts vorher organisieren zu müssen. Die nächste Veranstaltung, auf der Clogging angeboten wird, ist das American Dance and Music Festival vom 5.11.98 – 7.11.98 in Wien. Ich habe mir Urlaub genommen, um auch dorthin zu fahren. Viele amerikanische Instructors stehen auf dem Programm und auch Irish Dance Workshop werden neben unserem "Modern Clogging" angeboten. Mir gefällt Irish Dance super. Lord of the Dance habe ich mir live in Oberhausen ansehen können und Riverdance in Bremen. Beide habe ich schon oft auf Video angesehen. (Immer wenn ich mal wieder Bügeln muß).
