Cloverleaf Dance - 8th May 1999

It´s all in one hand, under one roof. A dancehall with short courseways and sufficient space. A friendly, family-like atmosphere, outstanding callers. That´s the fabric a Special Dance is made of. Such is the Cloverleaf Dance. Still well attended, despite the wide variety of tempting dances, which, nowadays, quite often occupy the same spot on the calendar.

What could be the reason? It´s the Afterparty, visitors comment with a twinkle in their eyes. That alone would make them come. – What is so special about it? Well, we don´t know for sure. Though, there are voices tracing it back to "The Play", the kind of theater performance, highlighting this late hour. Our On-Stage-Fun-Play researching the "Origins and Myths" of Square Dance. Our very own version of "The Endless Story". Here is a selection of "research projects": Schwarzwald Klinik, James Bond and Dr. No, 1001 Nights, The Orcacle of Delphi (Dave Preskitt as Orpheus), Sailor´s Yarn (Al Stevens as the Statue of Liberty), Star Trek/Holmes & Mrs. Marple in the Neander Valley (Stefan Förster as Mr. Spock, Joachim Geilke as the Neanderthal mal), Asterix and Obelix and the GEMAnians, Hollywood, Alfred Hitzkopf and the Qsquare Award (Gero Teufert as Psycho murderer, Jens Bockentin as "The Master" Guildo Horn)...

An interesting dance, and a happily relaxing afterparty. Something that makes you feel it was worth your while. It certainly adds to the joy that the preceeding friday evening offers the chance to "warm up" on our regular club night. And once the Special is over there is the lure of the "Schorsenbummel" in downtown Hannover, on sunday morning, featuring live music and all kinds of presentations and entertainment, among others square dance, performed by the Cloverleaves and their guests. Sort of a Farewell Dance, at the same time.

We, the Cloverleaves, Hannover´s oldest Square Dance Club, strive for our guest to feel comfortable from the very first moment. Such, as is normal at a special dance. A warm Welcome, y´all!

Alles aus einer Hand, alles unter einem Dach. Tanzplatz der kurzen Wege und eines angemessenen Platzangebotes. Freundliche, familiäre Atmosphäre, exzellente Caller. So, wie ein Special Dance eben sein soll. So ist der Cloverleaf Dance. Immer noch gut besucht, trotz des vielfältigen und sich mittlerweile häufig überschneidenden Angebots.

Woran mag das liegen? An der Afterparty, behaupten mit einem Zwinkern unsere Besucher. Sie kämen allein schon deswegen. - Was ist daran so besonders anziehend? Nun, genau wissen wir es auch nicht. Aber es gibt Stimmen, die es auf "das Theaterstück" zurückführen, das Mittelpunkt dieser spätabendlichen Stunde ist. Ein Bühnenspaß für alle mit dem Grundthema: "Ursprung und Mythen" des Square Dance. Unsere eigene "unendliche Geschichte". Hier eine Auswahl unserer "Forschungsprojekte": Schwarzwald Klinik, James Bond und Dr. No, 1001 Nacht, Das Orakel von Delphi (Dave Preskitt als Orpheus), Seemannsgarn (Al Stevens als Freiheitsstatue), Star Trek/Holmes & Mrs. Marple im Neandertal (Stefan Förster als Mr. Spock, Joachim Geilke als Neandertaler), Asterix und Obelix und die GEMAner, Hollywood, Alfred Hitzkopf und die Osquarever- leihung (Gero Teufert als Psycho-Mörder, Jens Bockentin als "Der Meister" Guildo Horn)...

Ein interessanter Tanz – und dazu eine fröhlich entspannte Afterparty. Das gibt das Gefühl, daß sich der Weg gelohnt hat. Dazu trägt sicherlich auch bei, daß man sich am Freitagabend bereits auf dem regulären Clubabend der Cloverleaves "warmtanzen" kann. Und zum Abschluß des Specials lockt noch einmal der hannoversche "Schorsenbummel" in der Innenstadt mit Livemusik und allerlei Vorführungen und Darbietungen. Eine davon ist Square Dance, der zum Programm gehört und von den Cloverleaves und ihren Gästen gestaltet wird. Gleichzeitig ein Farewell Dance für die Heimreisenden.

Wir, die Cloverleaves, Hannovers ältester Square Dance Klub, streben danach, daß sich unsere Gäste von Anfang an wohl fühlen. So, wie es auf einem Special Dance üblich ist. Herzlich Willkommen bei uns!
