I am the new one

Hello,

You might have heard that I was appointed Youth Representative at the end of July

Since I'm new to the Board, I would like to give you some information about myself: My parents brought me into Square Dancing. My mother – Ciddy Beyen – had already been a caller for some time when I was born in 1989. I attended my first Club Night when I was six days old. Since I was able to walk, I danced at Open Houses and at „Let's have a try“ events. I graduated in mainstream with the Auerker Teerosen in 1998. In 2003 I discovered my passion for Round Dance, and was graduated two years later with the Dancing Seagulles club. I still love Round Dancing and continue to try to achieve higher levels.

By the time my interest in Calling had grown. I had listened to discussions about calling at home for several years and decided to become a Square Dance caller. Wanting to learn calling properly right from the beginning, I went to Al Stevens' caller school in 2004. Since then I call regularly for the Auerker Teerosen, teach students and like to attend schools. In 2006 I was graduated at Plus level. Meanwhile I even do A1. Due to health reasons I was forced to stop Clogging – and still think that's a pity.

For a long time there were many young members in my club, and I was asked to officially represent them in the club board. Maybe that was one of the reasons for asking me to take over the job? This is because some weeks ago the EAASDC Board asked me to take over being the Youth Representative from the next election period onwards, and I was quite surprised when things went on much more rapidly.

I hope you understand that for a transition period not everything will flow smoothly. This is because in my private life things have changed following my final secondary-school examinations and start of my Apprenticeship. I will be happy to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions, etc. You can contact me via the EAASDC e-mail address – or by phone. And, of course, at Jamborees and Special Dances.

At the moment I am already working on one item: A questionnaire about what young dancers would like to have at the Youth Dance Section at Jamborees – as a basis for callers to work on for this dance section.

Your
