Jamboree Committee

The Jamboree Committee – wherefore we are
Axel Behrens, Spokesman of the Jamboree Committee

The revised Jamboree Guidelines, which were accepted at the general meeting 2010 in Dachau, included the foundation of a committee charged with issues concerning the Spring Jamboree and the Fall Round Up (below named as Jamboree). Because of the situation of the EAASDC Board after the Jamboree at Dachau the Jamboree Committee was founded in October 2010. It is made up in equal measure with the following persons:

  • Debora Rieser EAASDC Board
  • Peter Budsky EAASDC Board
  • Daphne Dahl ECTA
  • Michael Triebenecker ECTA
  • Axel Behrens berufen durch EAASDC Board
  • Jürgen Saeftel berufen durch ECTA Board

According to the guidelines the Jamboree Committee has the task of advising the EAASDC president and to attend the evaluation and preparation of Jamborees .We see our principal task in advising and supporting all the clubs that want to organise a Jamboree. This includes the examination of submitted documents in case of an application to ensure compliance with the guidelines, the evaluation of the documents and a final briefing of the EAASDC president as support for the decision to assign a Jamboree.

The guidelines contain general requirements for a Jamboree. These are categorised into must-be and can-be and knock-out criteria, in order to guarantee attractive conditions for Jamborees.

As soon as a host meets the general requirements, we as the Jamboree Committee take an advisory position. It is explicitly not our task to have Jamborees conducted according to specific conceptions or to organise Jamborees ourselves.

Therefore I would like to appeal to anyone thinking about hosting a Jamboree, to contact me or any committee member. We will help where we are able. As of 2013 all Jamborees and Fall Round Ups are yet to be assigned. To those who have criticised past events I would like to say: Don’t complain, do it yourself! Then you can host a Jamboree according to your own ideas – the guidelines only provide a frame. You may take it from my personal experience, it is a lot of work but also very rewarding.

Awaiting an animated discussion
Axel Behrens
