Call for Candidates for the Election of the EAASDC Board at the Membership Meeting 2027

Dear dancing friends.

do you remember your graduation ceremony? At many graduations, the four corners of the square are still read aloud. The words go: “You and all who follow you shall let the flame of duty shine brightly”.

What applies to individual clubs naturally applies to our square, round, clogging, and contra dance community as well.

The EAASDC is run entirely by volunteers. This is only possible if we have people who are willing to take on responsibilities.

We would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who works for the EAASDC – from our president, Claudia, to the other members of the board, and all the helpers behind the scenes. Without your tremendous personal dedication, the EAASDC as we know it would be unthinkable.

On 13 March 2027, the EAASDC will hold its next general meeting, and elections for the board are scheduled. For this, we need candidates from across our entire community. We know that the EAASDC is somewhat far away to many of you, and the idea of serving on the board is as well. However, being part of the EAASDC team not only helps all of us, it can also open up entirely new opportunities to help shape our hobby.

The EAASDC Board consists of the President, the Vice President, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the national representatives, and a maximum of 5 members at large for specific tasks (all m/f/d). The national representatives are elected directly by the clubs in their respective countries. That leaves the four positions mentioned first and the members at large, which will be up for election in March. 

Members at large currently hold the roles of “Bulletin Editor”, “IT Service” and “Webmaster”. There is also the role of “Gema & Events”. But roles such as “PR,” “Support for Members,” or “Youth Representative” could also be areas of focus for a member at large.
