Hi Everybody! I want to recapture what has happened in Sweden during 2010. First of all I would like to thank all of you who attended the European convention in Sweden, (1381 attendees). The three organizing clubs worked hard and produced a fantastic convention. Hopefully there will be another European convention in 2012, let’s make that happen!! This summer, we received the announcement that square dancing was cancelled at Bödabaden square dance center due to bankruptcy. Bödabaden square dance center has meant a lot for square dancing in Sweden and it was sad that it had to close down. But!!!! Next summer 2011, there will once again be square dance at Bödabaden, thanks to the four callers in Sweden who is cooperating with the new owners. Please visit www.dansgladjen.se for more information. It’s sad to say, but the numbers of active dancers are decreasing in Sweden. Recruitment is our top priority right now and all around Sweden several groups are working to try to get more dancers into our activity. My wish is to give you all a positive update in the next issue of this news letter. Once a year since 2003, SAASDC together with SACT organize a get together for all clubs and dancers in Sweden called “Seminariet”. Clubs and dancers get together for a weekend to get the possibility to discuss how to develop square dancing in Sweden. The number of attendees is usually 65-90 people and the weekend is very appreciated by the people who are attending. On behalf of SAASDC, I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year. If you are planning a trip to Sweden, please have a look at www.squaredans.se ,choose dance list, for the latest information about our dances.
